July 10 – Week 2

I’m quite happy with my first week: achieved most of exercise goals although I missed my regular, weekly yoga class because of circumstances beyond my control; had found myself eating more and more junk-food snacks (granola bars) but cut these out entirely (substituted whole-wheat muffins – home made by my 10-year old). Didn’t even miss the the granola bars! Didn’t do so well with stress reduction…faced some very stressful situations towards the end of the week…have to work harder on this.

No exercise so far for week 2! Stress level better though…small steps at a time.

My Personal Health and Wellness Challenge

July 2nd – Day 2

Not a spectacular day. I’m sore after yesterday’s workout, but not as sore as I thought I’d be! Had tentative plans of going for a swim but the weather and timing didn’t co-operate. Had a short, unaccustomed nap this afternoon, despite my 10-year old’s efforts to thwart this. Couldn’t help but be amused at my husbands efforts to “let mummy rest” – the “exchange” between the two of them was loud enough to wake me up. Bless them both, and amidst it all I did manage to make small inroads into the sleep deficit from which I have been suffering lately. Eagerly anticipating that extra hour of sleep tomorrow morning too – no school run or lunch to be made!

We’ll see what tomorrow brings.

My Personal Health and Wellness Challenge

July 1st – Day 1

I started my challenge today, quite impromptu. Now that the summer vacation has started and the pressure of school runs and extra-curricular activities has lessened I’ve decided to pay more attention to…me. Started my day with a 30-minute cardio workout plus squats and push-ups. Set the tone for a super-productive day. Felt great at the time but now, frankly, I hurt. I knew I was out of shape, this just confirms it. Feeling tired but pretty good otherwise. Looking forward to a good night’s sleep and to continuing the challenge tomorrow.
